About Us
Linguist List is the global goto for the academic linguistics community.
It began in 1990 with an electronic mailing list and a few dozen subscribers.
Now 36 years later, Linguist List is a worldwide community of over 127k subscribers and followers.
It is owned by the eLinguistics Foundation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) not for profit organization and its daily
operations are funded through job posts, a supporting publisher model, and donations from users.
The Linguist List has two mailing lists:

LINGUIST, a mailing list that forwards all postings to the subscriber directly or as a daily digest.

LINGLITE, a mailing list that forwards once a day a list of postings with titles and links to posts to subscribers.

Mission
The eLinguistics Foundation (ELF) is organized to operate exclusively for charitable purposes, including but not limited to:
- Supporting the discipline of linguistics
- Supporting initiatives and enhancement of the digital infrastructure in the field of linguistics
- Supporting research in linguistics and language technology
- Supporting the development of standards and promotion of best practices for the creation and preservation of digital language media
- Supporting students of linguistics and their training in language technologies.
Vision
The eLinguistics Foundation is an organization whose aim is to encourage the construction of infrastructure
for the discipline of linguistics, and to provide financial aid to such efforts.
Linguist List conducts the daily and long-term operational activities of ELF with the oversight of the
eLinguistics Foundation and in accord with the overall purpose of the Foundation.

The core values of the eLinguistics Foundation and Linguist List remain steadfast:

To support the discipline of linguistics by bringing posting information about jobs, journals,
conferences, books, etc. that are linguistically, globally, and academically relevant
- Keep LL services free to all

LL takes an apolitical stance, including but not limited to, not posting: calls to action,
discussion of national or international politics, or messages that may be construed as personal,
complaints, disparagement, or of named institutions or individuals in heated exchanges

Linguistic Research Infrastructure
at the University of Zurich and is supported by donations and the independent non-profit organization,
the eLinguistics Foundation.

Linguistic Fieldwork Support Grants
Proposals for grants in support of linguistic fieldwork should include:
- Project title
- Name of country, region, and languages to be studied and/or documented

Description of proposed work (not to exceed # pages). The description should include goals of the project,
significance/impact of the project for linguistics and/or the population studied, anticipated outcomes/products,
and a timeline of work.

- Budget and budget justification
- Biosketch
- Other current and pending support for the project
- Starting and ending dates
Projects may be 6 to 18 months in duration. Proposals may be for up to $6000.
